What is Direct Primary Care?

Our Vision

Direct Primary Care, or DPC, is a way of practicing medicine that clears out the middle. Instead of running your primary care through insurance — with its copays, claim forms, and the quiet pressure it puts on your doctor to see you for seven minutes and move on — you pay your physician directly through a flat monthly membership. That membership covers your visits, your messages, your annual physical, and the small things in between. Insurance still has its place; you'll want it for hospital stays, specialists, and emergencies.

But for the everyday work of primary care, the arrangement is simply between you and your doctor.

My Story

I am a Board Certified primary care physician practicing for over a decade. Trained through an innovative longitudinal Family Medicine program, I developed a passion for creating tailored care plans for my patients. This includes preventive health, chronic disease management, and acute care needs in conjunction with overall life goals.

I have taught nurse practitioners, physician assistants, residents, and treated fellow physicians. I've contributed to health newsletters and sat on committees to champion healthcare initiatives. I continue to advise fellow physicians on primary care needs, concerns, and advocacy.

I have always wanted to take a step back from the rigorous world of complex healthcare and find a way to provide care to those who need/want to avoid the complex systems for their go-to primary care needs. I have a passion for forward thinking care and recently completed MIT's AI in Healthcare course to understand the changing landscape of medicine and how artificial intelligence can be applied to current day practices.

Ultimately, I want to bring back the ART OF MEDICINE to my patients here at Life's Journey Direct Primary Care.

I have a special interest in life coaching and resiliency training. I believe an overall wellness strategy that combines physical and spiritual support. Through my own struggles in life and in the course of caring for thousands of patients, I have experienced and journeyed along many challenges.

I hope to be a person that can help you navigate through life's uncertainties: How do we prepare ourselves for the unexpected? How do we continue to remain consistent in our lives for others when the rest is chaotic? How do we leverage modern day technology (Artificial Intelligence, health wearables) for our health, but remain connected to ourselves?
